Abstract Submission Details

Types of Abstracts

The organising committee welcomes applications from anyone with an active research interest in mutation detection, registrants working on ANY organism are welcome, the meeting is NOT restricted to the human genome.

Registration and abstracts need to be sent as indicated no later than 8th July 2007, there will be no further extensions on this date.

All abstracts will be peer reviewed by the Scientific Committee and authors will be notified of acceptance by 31st July 2007. Authors will be notified if they are presenting an oral or poster presentation on this date. If you prefer a poster please indicate this when sending your abstract. All accepted abstracts will be published in the meeting programme book.

Guidelines for Preparing Abstracts

  • 1A4 page only
  • 2.5 cm or 1 inch margins
  • Font: Arial
  • Font size: 11 point
  • Headings should be bold and 14 point and CAPITAL letters
  • Authors listed in 11 point font with surname first followed by initials. Please underline the '''presenting author
  • Give full addresses of all authors (without titles) after the heading.
  • *Indicate the name of the corresponding author by an asterisk*
  • The Email of the corresponding author should be included below the addresses
  • URLs of all databases referenced should be included.
  • Diagrams and tables may be included as part of the one page limit
  • Nomenclature for mutations must follow HGVS Guidelines
  • Nomenclature for genes must follow HUGO guidelines

If you prefer a poster presentation please indicate this.

Please save your abstract using THE PRESENTERS surname and first name initial.

e.g. John Smith's abstract would be "smithJ.doc "

e-mail your submission as an Word attachment to Rania Horaitis.

Please include a small cover note in the email indicating which meeting the abstract is for (e.g., "I wish to submit this abstract for the Xiamen meeting"), cryptic messages or abstracts emailed with no note attached are unacceptable as they look like virus attachments and will not be opened.

Please ensure you receive an acknowledgement after you have sent your abstract so you are sure it has been received, allow a couple of days.

Abstract Acceptance Policy

If an abstract or registration is not accepted' the registration fee will be fully refunded if the submitter chooses not to attend. 'However, acceptance can be either for an oral or poster presentation. If an oral presentation was desired by the registrant but the abstract was accepted as a poster presentation and the registrant no longer wishes to attend, the registrant is not eligible for a full refund. Cancellation charges will take effect, see registration details.

Abstracts must be submitted as indicated, no fax or printed copies will be eligible. Registration will be on a first-come first-served basis. If you need notification earlier for funding purposes etc. please contact us; we can tell you if your abstract is accepted or not but will not be able to tell you if it is an oral or poster presentation until after the closing date and all abstracts are submitted.

Some presentations may be chosen to write a paper for a Special issue of Human Mutation. Once accepted, abstracts will be available for viewing on this Website. PowerPoint presentations will be collected and distributed to all registrants on a CD, if you do not wish to distribute your presentation please inform us.

Selection Criteria

Selection is dependant on the registrant working on Mutation Detection. A decision will be made by 31st July 2007 however if an earlier decision is required it can be made upon request.

Oral Presentation Instructions

  1. All presentations will be allocated a specific time limit in the acceptance letter including 5 minutes of question time. Anyone going overtime will be CUT SHORT so please keep to the time limit.
  2. Only PowerPoint presentations are available, there will be NO slide or overhead projector available.
  3. Presentations must be delivered on CD or USB memory stick. Speakers wiil NOT be able to use their own laptop.
  4. You MUST DELIVER your presentation AT THE TIME OF REGISTRATION.' CD's are the preferred format, however USB memory stick will also be accepted. Please label your presentations so that they can be returned to you. Floppy disks are not acceptable. All speakers must deliver their presentations at registration time 'regardless of which day the presentation is on.
  5. EMAIL' is also acceptable but please do so by '17th September at the latest. Be sure to bring a copy of your presentation with you as a backup.

Poster Presentation Instructions

Poster dimensions should be no wider than 95 cm and 130 cm long.
