Business Meeting Minutes

 

Objectives:

The Society aims to foster discovery and characterization of genomic variations including population distribution and phenotypic associations. We will promote collection, documentation and free distribution of genomic variation information and associated clinical variations and endeavor to foster the development of the necessary methodology and informatics.

 

Mission Statement:

To enhance human health through identification and characterization of changes in the genome that lead to susceptibility to illness. To this end, to collate the genomic information necessary for molecular diagnosis, research on basic mechanisms and design of treatments of human ailments.

A bimonthly electronic newsletter.

Biyearly scientific meetings dedicated to mutation/variation - topics include mutation detection, mutation databases, SNPs. Meetings are satellites to HUGO Human Genome Meeting and American Society of Human Genetics.

Other benefits are:

    • HGVS members will receive a substantial discount rate on colour plate fees when publishing in Human Mutation.
    • Wiley will offer HGVS members discounted print subscription rates for a selection of other Wiley genetics journals on par with discounts offered to ASHG members.

If you already receive "Human Mutation", you may like to nominate a colleague to receive your copy of the journal from your membership, e.g to a colleague in Russia, Romania, Iran etc.

To join:

Regular Members (Mandatory subscription to Human Mutation):

Dues plus print and online journal US$200.

Dues plus online journal only US$125.

Human Mutation Editors (without the journal): US$50

Students (without journal if supervisor is a regular member): US$50

Spouse (without journal if spouse of regular member): US$50

Fill in and FAX the membership form.

You can elect to join the Society and donate your copy of the journal to another individual if you wish.

NOTE: Subscriptions of Human Mutation run on a calendar year. Membership dues are due November each year for the following calendar year. Those who join from January to August will receive issues from January 2006 to December 2006. Those who join from September 2006 onwards will receive issues from January 2007 to December 2007- unless you say you want the back issues.
